Emily @ Joyful Abode

I’m Emily, and my family lives in California. My daughter Anneliese is a July 2010 baby and started solids one week shy of 7 months old, after being exclusively breastfed her whole life. I used to think I would make my own baby foods… you know, cooking up concoctions and blending them carefully into mush, then freezing in ice cube trays, and so on. Then I learned about baby-led weaning and it seemed like such a natural thing to do. Babies don’t need mush if they’re ready to eat! And there’s no such thing as “baby food.” My daughter is going to eat what my husband and I eat. I’m so excited for this journey.

Jess
I’m Jess, and this is Ben. Ben was born in July of 2010 and was breastfed exclusively from three days to five months when we introduced solids through baby-led weaning. He’s our little scientist and will try anything you give him! We chose BLW for Ben because it seemed like a great way to develop a healthy food relationship for him. I love how you don’t even really have to think about it. If I’m eating it, he’s eating it. That knowledge has helped my husband and I branch out in our own diets and add new foods. BLW: Good for the whole family!

DeborahRuth
My name is Deborah and I am from Sussex, New Brunswick (Canada). My daughter Pri was born June 19th 2010. Pri was exclusively breastfed until she was 6 months old, then we introduced solid foods (the first being toast). She has never eaten purees and is still breastfed. We chose BLW because I hate the thought of my food getting cold while trying to spoon feed and it is more natural for her to eat real food. The only food we held off on were bananas because my husband is allergic to them (she started eating them at 8 months with no problems).

Tristina
Hi! I’m Tristina and this here is Olivia. She’s our first baby, born in May 2010, and has been exclusively breastfed since day 1. We started solids when she was seven and a half months old, mostly because she really wasn’t interested in food until then. We do a combination of me making food for her and her eating off our plates. She loves feeding herself and she loves being fed, too! It’s fun for the whole family. We chose baby-led eating because it made more sense to feed her what we would eat and develop her palate naturally with good, healthy, flavorful food. My husband and I love to cook and we practice a gluten-free lifestyle for health reasons. Olivia has some gluten but we plan on (hopefully) providing her with a well-rounded, healthy diet.

Whitney @ Keeping Up With Kynlee

I’m Whitney and in August 2010 I became a first-time momma to a little girl named Kynlee (I often call her “K” when blogging). I’m married to a soldier and we live in South Georgia. I absolutely love being close to both the beach and the mountains! A few months ago I had never even heard of baby-led weaning and planned on making homemade purées. Now that I have more information on BLW, I am so excited about it! It just makes sense, ya know? I hope you’ll join us on our journey of baby-led weaning!

Janine @ Alternative Housewife

My name is Janine and I’m a semi-crunchy mama in Portland, Oregon. I am a work-at-home web designer and style blogger at AlternativeHousewife.com. While my husband and I have different nutritional requirements, we aim for a diet of whole foods and lots of protein. Sebastian is our first baby, born near the end of September 2010. While we do enjoy blending purees, we like baby-led weaning because it puts the baby in control of his own food intake. Letting him bring the food to his mouth seems healthier and is certainly more fun! Other than whole foods, Sebastian is exclusively breastfed.

Joni

Hi all. I’m Joni and I live smack in the middle of California. I’m a babywearing, breastfeeding, homebirthing, cloth diapering, co-sleeping, crunchy mama of 4 amazing kids (15, 12, 11 and our BLW baby Ella), wife to my fairytale prince and sister to an awesome lady who I count as one of my own. I nursed all my babies exclusively. We eat whole as much as we can and limit our meat consumption to once of twice a week. We chose BLW because it’s smart and EASY. We want our kids to eat diverse foods and have good nutrition. I’m thrilled to be joining this diverse team of great BLW mamas and babies!

Erin

I’m Erin, Mom to three sons. Two year old twins Lincoln and Wyatt and Judah who was born in August 2010. After a rough start with breastfeeding, Judah has turned into quite the tank! He “mostly” breastfeeds with the occasional bottle, but prefers the breast over anything else. We are excited to try Baby Led Weaning this time around, with the boys I was all about making my own baby food but now…I just don’t have the time! First foods have been something quick and soft- bananas and avocados. With the eruption of two front teeth we are anxious to start our adventures in BLW. We live in Minneapolis.

Mummy in Provence
I’m Ameena @ MummyinProvence, first time mummy to BabyinProvence (BiP) who is an April 2010 baby. We live in the South of France where being a foodie is a must! BiP was born a little foodie; she was truly a piranha baby and her transition to food has been met with the same enthusiasm. I’m gluten-intolerant and DH is lactose intolerant so we are both passionate about nutrition. BiP was exclusively breastfed for 6 months before starting her BLW journey.

Amber

My name is Amber and I am from southern California. I am a SAHM of two, Logan and Kaitlynn. Logan is 3 and Kaitlynn is a Sept 2010 baby. I am married to a Sailor and we are currently stationed in central California. Kaitlynn is a breastfed baby, and will be starting BLW as soon as she is able to sit up. I did the whole baby puree thing with my first and had planned on doing the same with Kaitlynn, but stumbled upon BLW and think this will work into our family system better. We are excited to start our eating journey and to have you be a part of it.
