Steamed Broccoli

My husband and I are huge broccoli fans (probably me more so than him). I love to eat broccoli raw, steamed, roasted…basically any way it can be fixed, I’ll be happy! We eat it several times a week in our home and I was  so excited for Kynlee to try! Another BLW blog momma, Emily, wrote about Anneliese’s first taste of broccoli. I noted from their experience that it’s better to leave the stems a bit longer so that it’d be easier for Kynlee to grab onto. Well, they didn’t end up as long as I had planned, but we made it work.

After washing and cutting the broccoli, I added some olive oil, a little bit of water, salt & pepper to taste and threw it in the mircowave for about 3 minutes. This is such a quick and effective way of steaming!

Like some of the other new foods, Kynlee wasn’t too sure about it at first…

After her first taste of the broccoli, Kynlee spent a lot of time inspecting it…

What is this?Still trying to figure it out...

I'm not sure about this...Maybe I'll give it another taste...

Then after the inspection was complete, Kynlee went for another taste!

Loved sucking the flavors out!

I wanted to get a video of K with the broccoli but I was taking a ton of pics and when I finally thought about taking a video, she was done eating – although she was saving some for later it seemed…

Saving some for later...

Kynlee swallowed very little (if any) of the broccoli but really, really enjoyed the flavors of the steamed broccoli. This makes me very happy since we have this so often! Baby-led broccoli FTW!
